Donations Raised from
2012 Book 'Em North Carolina

 

The Inaugural Book 'Em North Carolina Writers Conference and Book Fair held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 raised $9,000 for literacy campaigns and anti-crime efforts. We have each of you who participated as an author, publisher, attendee or volunteer to thank for this!

On April 25, 2012, a special ceremony was held at Robeson Community College's Workforce Development Center to hand out four checks, each totalling $2,250 to organizations committed to raising literacy rates and reducing crime in our communities.

Morris Bullock, 2012 President of the Friends of the Robeson County Public Library, accepts a donation of $2,250 for literacy programs from author p.m.terrell, Book 'Em North Carolina co-chair, and Jef Lambdin, Treasurer for the Robeson County Arts Council and Book 'Em North Carolina.

Lumberton Police Chief Mike McNeill accepts a donation of $2,250 for anti-crime efforts in the schools from author p.m.terrell, Book 'Em North Carolina co-chair, and Jef Lambdin, Treasurer for the Robeson County Arts Council and Book 'Em North Carolina.

   


 

The purpose of The Book 'Em Foundation and this event is to raise public awareness of the link between high crime rates and high illiteracy rates. Proceeds from the Book 'Em North Carolina book fair go directly to increasing literacy in Robeson County, North Carolina and to reducing crime in the area.
